For those not content to spend their holiday lying around, Puumala offers various activities to choose from including excellent routes for paddling and hiking as well as numerous lakes for fishing and boating.
Hiking and nature paths

In Puumala you can go hiking along Elsa Heporauta Trail 24 km (load map and route description here) or Kukkeistenpolku10 km (load map) in the Puumala village. If one does not wish to stress oneself too much, Liehtalanniemi or Rokansaari island offers smaller paths for nature lovers to enjoy.
The Saimaa Seal Trail is a new route in southern archipelago. You may start the trip by crossing the Puumala Bridge. The trail is a 10-kilometre ring route with spectacular lake views. Load the map here please.
Skiing and snowshoeing

During winter, enjoy the scenery in Puumala by yourself or by taking part in one of our organised ski trips. There are several different ski routes around Puumala that make skiing enjoyable to all ages depending on your stamina and enthusiasm.

The s/s Wenno, a genuine steam ship, and M/S Kaunis Veera offer you the possibility to cruise the beautiful Lake Saimaa. Both ships are also available for private cruises and occasions at the Puumala harbour. Please, load guest harbour brochure here.

Puumala's beautiful scenery and water routes offer an unforgettable vacation for people who want to explore the area at their own pace. Veskansan Reitit map gives you alternative routes to choose from. The map can be purchased for 20 € at the tourist office. Puumala also offers various other opportunities for activities that relate to your own interests.
Sports facilities in Puumala include several tennis fields, a sports field, a gym, and an ice rink for skating and hockey during winter. For golf enthusiasts there is a small pay & play golf course about 20 min drive away from the centre of Puumala. See Kostioniemi Golf Puumala.

The Puumala fishing area is close to 28 000 ha in size. You are entitled to fish with a rod and a line without a fishing permit. For example for jigging, spinning and rolling the permit is needed.
