SAUNA

For those coming to Finland in search of a good sauna, Puumala offers various alternatives. Whether you’d like a calm evening spent swimming in the blue waters of Saimaa and bathing in a sauna near the beach, or you’d just prefer a quick dip in the ice hole Puumala is ready to grant your wish.

Veera's sauna is located in the Puumala guest harbour on the left side of the Puumalansalmi bridge. In winter the sauna can be reserved for winter swimming. Private reservations are also possible. 

Sappula sauna is heated once a week. Tuesday from 18.00 to 21.00 the sauna is reserved for men and Thursdays at the same time for women. The sauna charge is 1 € from children under sixteen years, the unemployed and the retired, and 2 € for adults. The sauna is also available for private use at 25 € per occasion.

Sahanlahti in winter
Sahanlahti offers visitors the possibility to get to know Finnish sauna culture at it’s purest in the form of savusauna (smoke sauna). Regular saunas are also available, all of which have good access to the lake. There is also a possibility of ice hole swimming in the winter. Okkola Holiday Cottages has a special sauna with a window from which one can admire the beautiful nature of Niinisaari while bathing. The sauna is rented together with Kalliola cottage.
